Suppository Instructions: A Step-by-Step Guide

by | Oct 27, 2024 | Suppository

Before You Begin

    • Wash your hands – with soap and water, of course

    • Those who are prescribed with the medication must, first of all, read the instructions attentively and exclusively

    • If the suppository is overly soft, own some discipline and wait for it to get harder, rather than speeding up its hardening by putting it in the fridge. It is desired that it should be hardened to the extent that it should be able to be inserted without its breaking apart

Insertion Steps

    1. This is the first step, so take off the package and throw it in the waste

    1. After you have done that, the next thing to do is to (phrasal verb; 3rd pers. pers. sing; present) the *syrupy* tip of the suppository

    1. Decide on a position that you are comfortable with, let’s say:
        • Put your right arm under your ear if you are lying on your left side, with your knees bent towards your chest. (ambiguous, rephrase it)
        • While walking with one foot on a chair
        • If crouching, with your chest low (your forehead should be close to the ground)

    1. Slide down the suppository into the rectum, to the deliberate end, approximately 1 inch

    1. Tighten your glutes between your thighs for a while to hold the suppository in place

    1. The desire to lie comfortably for as long as 15 to 20 minutes can be, if at all possible fulfilled

After Insertion

    • Remember to wash your hands once again

    • Don’t stay seated for 15 minutes, try to manage your BMs for at least 15 minutes, and then you can pass gas

    • Moisturize your body by taking a shower with plain warm water
