You have noted that when your diet is worse, you have more problems. A pap smear is for a vaginal/cervical smear, not anything rectal. At 30, it is very unlikely you have colon cancer, so don't worry about a colonoscopy. You must keep up your water, fiber, and exercise.

Your situation absolutely infuriates me. Your plight is beyond inexcusable.
A PAP Smear test is for Papanicolaou and nothing to do with colorectal cancer. You need a colonoscopy immediately. Go to a county hospital, university hospital, social worker in a medical facility, county health unit and explain what you have written here. If there is any humanity left in us someone will get that routine, inexpensive procedure done. That will provide definitive answers and go from there.
Those homeopathic remedies should go on the back burner until you get that colonoscopy. Just because a doctor diagnosed hemroids does not mean you do not have colorectal cancer as well. That doctor, and I use the title very generally, is a disgrace, to stamp hemroids on you and slide you out the door. Clearly your digestive system is under stress which means the cells are under stress which means increased risk for cellular mutation.
Further I would consider legal action regarding that doctor if in fact you do have carcinoma metastatic or not. There may well be legal cause without carcinoma. I am not an advocate of legal action regarding health care workers but that doctor provides a special case.

Ugh...I have the exact same problem...Let me introduce you to these miraculous little chewables.
http://www.healthwagon.com/517.html
Order these if you can. 2 before bedtime will leave you normal every morning. (Not diarrhea, just normal)
I have been constipated for 35 YEARS and I kissed the floor when I found this product! LOL Another thing that works for me is 10 Dried Apricots on an Empty stomach with a cup of coffee before Breakfast. You will RUN, Not walk..to the bathroom. It works every time! Also try a handful of chocolate chips with your morning coffee! It works like a charm! 6 Dried Prunes..very powerful.

Your problem is constipation and straining causing hemmeroids and bleeding. My husband went for a colonocopy because he suffered for 15 years before he even spoke up about it! His diagnosis: Internal Hemmeroids. Yeah, those over the counter things don't work oh so well...Do you have a sitz bath? Try soaking in a hot sitz bath about twice a day..it is divine for your hemmeroids. The prune wafers are safe for daily use and only have 3 ingredients in them. Hemmeroids will heal with hot sitz baths, it is very comforting. No, you don't have colon or anal cancer...I would have been dead years ago, trust me. No, Pap smears don't detect Anal Cancer. I know..I am miserable too. I hope the above mentioned helps you out a bit...Good Luck.

The biggest mistake you made was cancelling the vet appointment when Ginger got sick.

You are not a vet. You don't know what the dog has. The dog might have Parvo which is a puppy killer if not treated and since you didn't get the pup it's shots yet, it might have Parvo and you need to talk to the vets office to find out if you need to be let in by some special back entrance to have the sick puppies seen. They didn't have to be exposed to Parvo where they were bred; it could have happened elsewhere, like where YOU live.

You are assuming the vet bill will be $ 1000, but I don't get that kind of vet bill unless my dogs have required surgery. Maybe you need to find a good, more reasonable vet.

You obviously most likely work in the medical field, possibly as an assistant or receptionist. You know the jargon, but you're not a diagnostician and it's inappropriate to ask us for med/vet advice when you're already into self-medicating and doing things without even calling your vet on the phone.

You CAN go to Marvista Vet online and email a vet directly and get an answer soon. If you do, and the vet recommends taking the pups to your vet as soon as possible, I hope you will do so.

You can also call your own vet and ask prices on treatment. I think you're assuming prices without asking. That's the impression you leave. You worry me as you're trying to diagnose your pups and you are not a trained diagnostician. And your willingness to self-medicate your dogs without getting your vet's ok or feedback indicates you are dangerous to the health and welfare of your dogs.

Addendum: OK... so you're an emt. You know how to test systems like lung funciton, BP, etc. That makes sense. You are still ASSUMING what a vet will prescribe and what your vet will charge.

You need to either call your own vet and ask for recommendations on what you can do at home, OR contact a vet online, BUT, you also need to ask what would be indication that the dog MUST be seen... and one of those red flags is generally bloody stools !

You don't know enough about dogs. Nose does NOT have to be cool and wet for dog to be healthy. Gums in her mouth - did you press and watch for rebound of coloring after you release the pressure?

If your vet is that expensive, find another vet who is not overcharging. I STILL say, even if you're an emt, you should not self-medicate your dog with NO discussion with your vet. -!-

My advice is to stop trying to play God. You are a paramedic NOT a veterinarian. You have all these 'treatments' you are doing without even knowing what you are treating. If you knew anything about dogs you would not feed Purina products either. You would also know that Parvo can be anywhere and live in the environment for a very long time. And then you go on to say that you 'rescued' these dogs and yet you refuse to give them proper ANIMAL medical attention. You not only 'sound like a terrible pet owner', you ARE a terrible pet owner. It is obvious you know nothing, including the costs of a veterinarian. You should also be fired from your job for taking supplies from your work and dispensing antibiotics.
No, staying with you is a death sentence

Couple of clarifying questions.
1. What is the temperature of the pup?
2. When were they last de-wormed?

You cannot know if they have been exposed to parvo or not as it is an airborne virus that can live in the ground, depending upon the environment for up to 5 years.

There are SEVERAL possibilities, but without further information it's very hard to determine.

"Could" be coccidia, giardia, whip-worm, tape-worm etc. "Could" be parvo. etc.
With the "lack of de-hydration and the desire to drink, combined with the "quick turn around" of the female, it would be a long stretch to consider parvo, however it's NOT something that you can just say "nope" to.

That you are an EMT helps tremendously... as you are watching all of the correct things - but NEVER base a "Cool Dry" nose as a foundation of no fever - take the temp. A temp in ANY dog over 103.2 requires a call to the vet and immediate action.

Depending upon WHAT it is determines the course of treatment. If you are dealing with a "parasite" antibiotics will not do any good. If you are dealing with "overeating" along with parasites, that is an entirely different story.

I would strongly encourage you to get a fecal sample to the vet immediately to check for parvo AND parasites (tell them you want it checked for giardia and coccidia also) - so they don't have a "Truly sick" dog in their clinic AND so that IF it's only parasites you are only paying for the actual diagnosis and then you can treat accordingly.

Good Luck!

You are a paramedic ? The first thing you should always do when you take in rescued dogs is a trip to the vet. You need the experience and knowledge of a vet to help you. Quit bragging about your skills and knowledge as a paramedic, which doesn't help the dogs in this situation. There is a company called Care Credit you can get to cover vet bills. One of my dogs was very very ill and since I'm not working I was concerned how to pay for treatment. My vet's office told me to apply they give you an answer there and then. I got a $ 2100 line of credit, My dog had pneumonia, had lab, xray, 2 kinds of IV antibiotics and fluids and 2 day hospital stay and fees under $ 1000.00 for all this. 14 months to pay no interest. Heres a link to the website http://www.carecredit.com/. Good luck

There is a company called Care Credit you can get to cover vet bills. One of my dogs was very very ill and since I’m not working I was concerned how to pay for treatment. My vet’s office told me to apply they give you an answer there and then. Good luck

You did the right thing by rescuing them, but now you say you cannot provide them with the necessary vet care that they very obviously need. I know the situation you are in is difficult but at this point you must consider sending them to a no-kill shelter where a vet will gladly help them out. They need a vet desperately. Please do the right thing and help them.

Rather than copy/paste from one of my regular answers on withdrawals, I'll just give you the link:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmJZvEXD0RdJleUsJz7rkC7ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20110213015130AAconpy

That's the process I've used for many years, and my opiate levels were significantly higher than yours. Even though you've only been using 10/325's for a few months, you shouldn't be doing it CT anyway, unless you really like being nuts.

If you're curious, my normal prescriptions for 10 years were 2x Duragesic 100's, 120/150 Percocet 10/325's per month (depending on the time of year), Demerol 100's. Of course it took me a lot longer than it will you, and I've had a lot of experience in having to raise and lower my dosage levels, but the process works. If you have any specific questions or concerns, message me.

Good tips from Cassy. Phenergan and Compazine both work , I prefer Compazine. If you are having a supervised withdrawal, you need to be checking your vital signs. Most particularly your blood pressure and pulse. Very high or low B/P or irregular pulse require medical attention. In Detox, you may be given Valium if you have no benzo addiction or phenobarbital. Please don't do this alone. 8 10s a day is the general maximum therapeutic dose . You may have only mild withdrawal symptoms. You will likely be light and sound sensitive, and cranky, so warn anybody around you not to take it personally. If you feel barfy, stick to white soda, Saltines, clear chicken broth til you stop feeling quesy.

There is no cure. The main treatment is drink a LOT of liquids (preferably Gatorade), avoid ALL types of dairy products, get plenty of sleep and keep Pepto Bismol on hand.
I think they make it with pain reliever now. Dairy products (milk, cheese, chocolate, etc) can aggravate it. Once he feels better, transition back to normal eating slowly.

I've had them for most of my pregnancy. They are even worse now as I'm 35 weeks and there's lots of pressure down there. I use flushable wet wipes every time I use the restroom. I would recommend this, it helps to keep the area very clean and the hemorrhoids from becoming aggravated and mine never bleed since I've been using them.

You can insert some t/p into the entrance of your vagina and be able to tell if that is where the blood is coming from (which I doubt).

=)
wet wipes really help!!

Taking all that stuff will kill you. Take the amoxicillin and the Ibuprofen tonight, and call your primary care physician in the morning for advice. You should also report your dentist to the American Dental Association.

LOL wow, I had my teeth pulled and I never got anything...haha Every health provider has their own way of doing things. But at the end of the day, they're all accomplishing the same thing. In your case, the dentist was nice and gave you everything you need not to feel as much pain...like I experienced.haha

You'll be fine.

that's way more medication then anyone would need for Tooth removal. I can see using one painkiller and the antibiotics, but not all the rest. Definitely call a pharmacist and find out exactly what you should take. Most people would love to find a doctor who would give out so much drugs.

YES! This just doesn't even sound right.

Get a second opinion! WHAT EVER YOU DO - DON'T TAKE ALL THESE THINGS JUST YET! See another dentist and tell them what your previous dentist did. Maybe there's something nefarious going on! GET A SECOND OPINION.

Um, generally your dentist is right (my mom is a dentist) but I cannot believe he prescribed you all those MAJOR pain drugs. If a drugee got his hands on those..he would be in paradise. All you need is amoxicillin and if your pain is bad, Vicodin OR ibuprofen. DON NOT QUOTE ME THOUGH I AM ONLY AN EAVESDROPPER FROM MY MOM. YOUR DENTIST KNOWS BEST BUT I THINK HE/SHE WENT OVERBOARD

That seems like a bit much, are you supposed to take them all at once?
I would think maybe take the Percocet and Amoxicillin and you'd be fine (that worked when I got my wisdom teeth out).
Maybe there was something in your chart that is making him give you all those extra things.

I'd say your dentist is totally off his rocker if that's true..

Maybe a couple of the items.. yes.. Amoxicillin and a pain killer.. yah.. But a number of things that do the same things, etc? Sounds more like he was making a list of the local drug store inventory..

Hope you're just kidding!

I ended up taking something called Zofran as my m/s was so bad, I couldn't even keep down water. Zofran was originally made for people with nausea from chemotherapy but is starting to be given for persistent hyperemesis. It worked pretty well and it was great because it didn't make me so tired like the phenergan.

however, it does have to be prescribed by a doctor, and it's really expensive - like $ 30 a pill. Luckily, my insurance covered most of it.

I would definitely recommend finding a new doctor who understands that m/s is not "normal" when it interferes with the normal activities of daily living and is willing to work with you to figure out a regimen that is best for you and your baby.

as for non-Rx stuff, I would recommend trying all the traditional m/s remedies - ginger/gingerale, lemon, peppermint, saltines, SeaBands, preggy pops, etc., etc. Pretty much anything anyone suggested, I gave it a try. Some stuff worked some of the time, some didn't work for me, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you, everyone is different. You can also try a combo of vitamin b-12 and Unisom. it worked pretty well, but also made me sleepy, like the phenergan. http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=edell&id=3658783

I thought I had hemmoroids and I could hardly sit down and it aches and was very painful. I did go and see a specialist who deals with those problems and it turned out to be a burst blood vessel from straining. I think it sounds like you could have either, but are you often constipated because that is a major factor for both things. The specialist told me the best way to calm and get rid of both problems, (it worked for me) was to wrap a small ice brick in a tea towel and hold it in the area that is painful right between your cheeks. Sounds yuk, but it works. Try to do it as often as possible and for 20 minutes at a time. Creams didn't help me either.
Good luck. If it doesn't help I would see a doctor. Embarrassing, but worth it.

if youve tried all the over the counter medications and they arent helping then you need to see a doctor its possible and not uncommon that they may have to preform a procedure on the roid! anyways, i wouldnt let it go on any longer, get to a doctor asap!!!

Try to find someone to watch your son. You need to go to the ER because you are in danger of becoming severly dehydrated.
